Lowe’s Store Cat Returns Home After Accidental 85-Mile Truck Journey
Francine, the beloved mascot cat at a Richmond, Virginia Lowe’s store, has returned home after accidentally stowing away on a truck to North Carolina in mid-September. The former stray became the West Broad Street location’s unofficial mascot eight years ago and local celebrity among employees and customers. Workers discovered Francine had traveled 85 miles to the Garysburg distribution center when she went missing. Thermal drone teams and workers searched the facility until security cameras spotted her October 4th. Store manager Mike Sida said “I can’t describe the feeling when we realized it was her. We all just lit up.” Humane traps captured Francine before midnight Sunday. When Sida and associate Wayne Schneider retrieved her Monday, Schneider said “She looked at us and gave this big meow like, ‘What took you so long?'” (Story URL)
