Taylor Swift Drives U.S. Vinyl Sales Past $1 Billion For First Time Since 1983
U.S. vinyl sales exceeded $1 billion in revenue for the first time since 1983, driven largely by Taylor Swift’s success. The Life Of A Showgirl sold 1.6 million vinyl units, the highest of any release by over 1.3 million units. She offered eight distinct versions on various colored vinyl. The RIAA reported vinyl unit sales increased 7.9% from 43.4 million to 46.8 million units, generating $1,042.9 billion in revenue. Other top vinyl sellers included Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, and Fleetwood Mac. While vinyl surged, CD sales dropped 11.6%. Streaming subscriptions grew 6.5% to 106.5 million accounts. Total music industry revenue reached a record $11.5 billion, up 3.1%
