The Celebrity Beat…
As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Chuck Norris passed away Friday morning in Hawaii, at the age of 86. He’d been hospitalized the day before.
The circumstances are being kept private at this time, but they say he was, quote, “surrounded by his family and was at peace.”
He’s survived by second wife Gena O’Kelley, three sons, two daughters, and several grandchildren.
Chuck was one of the big action stars of the ’70s and ’80s, after getting his break in the 1972 Bruce Lee movie “Return of the Dragon”.
His other classics included the “Delta Force” and “Mission in Action” movies, “Good Guys Wear Black”, “The Octagon”, and “Lone Wolf McQuade” … in addition to the action comedies “Sidekicks” and “Top Dog”.
In 1993, he revived a waning career with the CBS series “Walker, Texas Ranger”, which lasted until 2001, and was followed by a TV movie in 2005. In 2012, he appeared in “The Expendables 2”.
He was also a spokesman for Total Gym workout equipment for four decades.
Youngsters probably know him best for theviral Chuck Norris Jokes about his exaggerated manliness, such as: Chuck Norris can blow bubbles with beef jerky.
Arnold Schwarzenegger remembered Chuck as an icon and, quote, “a badass, in real life and in Hollywood.”
Sylvester Stallone called him “All-American in every way.”
Jean-Claude Van Damme, who trained with Chuck in the early ’80s, said, quote, “I always respected the man he was.”
And Stephen King shared his favorite Chuck Norris Joke: Chuck doesn’t flush the toilet, he scares the [crap] out of it.
