The Celebrity Beat…

Dolly Parton announced yesterday that “Dolly: A True Original Musical” will officially open on Broadway in New York City on her 81st birthday, which is January 19th.  Previews will start in December.

The musical premiered last summer in Nashville, and has since undergone changes. It tells Dolly’s story in her own words and songs.

Dolly says, quote, “This isn’t about a story about sparkle and shine on the outside.  It’s about where I really come from, what I’ve lived, what I’ve lost, what I’ve loved, and how I’ve found my way, and told it in my own words.”

She also teased that she’s writing new songs for the musical.  It’ll also include her hits like “I Will Always Love You”“Jolene”, and “9 to 5”.  Tickets go on sale today.
