Northside Neighborhood House is holding an event aimed at celebrating the community’s nonprofit thrift stores. The weeklong Thrift Crawl, started yesterday and will go through August 22nd, encouraging shoppers to explore multiple thrift stores across the Chattanooga area while supporting local causes.

Participants in the Thrift Crawl will receive a special passport after making a minimum $5 purchase at any of the designated thrift stores. These stores include Northside Neighborhood House’s locations in Northshore, Red Bank, and Soddy Daisy, as well as other community organizations such as the Humane Educational Society, Ladies of Charity, Chambliss Center for Children, Room in the Inn Thrift, and Signal Mountain Social Services.

To participate, shoppers need to visit at least three of these stores, making a qualifying purchase at each. Each $5 spent earns a punch on their passport. Once they have collected enough punches from three different stores, they can submit their completed passport at their final stop for a chance to win prizes donated by the participating organizations. Prizes range from gift cards to tickets to local attractions, and more.

The event is designed to promote sustainable shopping and highlight the vital role thrift stores play in supporting community programs. Northside Neighborhood House’s thrift stores alone attracted over 100,000 shoppers last year, offering everything from clothing to vintage furniture and home décor. Every dollar spent helps fund programs that assist families facing housing challenges, food insecurity, and other hardships, while also supporting local education initiatives.

Completed passports must be submitted by August 22nd to be eligible for the prize draw. The initiative aims to foster community engagement, raise awareness of the nonprofits’ missions, and celebrate the positive impact of thrift stores in Chattanooga.
