So much for Ryan Seacrest being the safe choice: A traditional family values group has put “Wheel of Fortune” on their naughty list.
One Million Moms, a division of the American Family Association, launched a petition urging the producers to return the show to its family-friendly roots. Why? Because earlier this year, they started using the phrase “What the Fun?”
The group says, quote, “Unfortunately, the recently added puzzle category ‘What the Fun’ aims at a mature, modern audience with insinuated profanity, making it no longer suitable for family viewing.”
They add that “Wheel” has, quote, “deliberately chosen to include controversial categories instead of wholesome ones…Wheel producers do not care about what children hear; everyone knows kids repeat what they hear. Insinuated profanity in any show is extremely disrespectful to families. Wheel should maintain its original design.”
As of last night, the petition had close to 12,000 signatures, significantly less than a million. Maybe they’re reaching a bit with their name? Just sayin’…
