A Guy Celebrated His Birthday by Smoking Meth, Stealing a Trolley, and Picking Up Tourists
Have you ever gone all out on your birthday? Maybe your 21st? Jonathan Winslow did it big for his 57th! Winslow is facing charges after he celebrated his birthday last Friday by doing meth . . . stealing a trolley . . . and driving it around town picking up tourists.
There’s a well known trolley in Key West called the Conch Tour Train. It looks like an old-timey train and does 60-minute tours. It’s been operating since the late 50s. According to police, Jonathan showed up at the station at 11:30 A.M. on the Fourth of July. He left his Kia out back with the engine running and rock music blasting on the radio.
Winslow told an employee he used to work there, and asked if he could take a look at one of the trains. It’s not clear if he actually ever worked there or not. He then hopped in one of the trollies and took off, leaving the employee confused. They thought maybe he had permission to take it, but he didn’t.
When the police eventually found him, he was on the other side of town at the famous Southernmost Point Buoy. He’d driven about a mile and picked up several passengers. When they told him he was being arrested, he said it was his birthday and claimed he just “borrowed” the trolley. Cops said he was speaking fast, like he was on something.
When they searched him at intake and found a pipe in his pocket. He said it was for weed, but it was a meth pipe. He’s facing charges for burglary, grand theft auto, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
