A “Home Alone” Gingerbread House Broke a World Record

“Home Alone”– inspired gingerbread house of the McCallister residence broke a Guinness World Record for largest gingerbread house.  Disney built it in Hollywood to celebrate the movie’s 35th anniversary.

There was a special ceremony hosted by Carter Oosterhouse from “The Great Christmas Light Fight” with a Guinness representative.  It’s 34-feet-long, 58-feet-wide, and over 22-feet-tall.

It took eight days to construct.  It used over 7,000 pounds of flour, more than 6,600 eggs, 4,200 gingerbread bricks, 1,800 roof tiles, and 20 gallons of edible glue.

There are also replica vehicles on display, like Harry and Marv’s van and a Little Nero’s Pizza delivery car.

It’s worth mentioning there’s a discrepancy between the specs given in the ceremony and on social media versus what’s in Disney’s press release.  You can watch the video of the ceremony above.  Go to 5:11 for the house details.  You can also see a clip from local news here.
