Campbell’s released its annual Thanksgiving poll on America’s favorite sides… and for the second year in a row, mashed potatoes is NOT #1.  It’s #2 again this year behind stuffing!

The Top Five are:  Stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac-and-cheese, and green bean casserole.

Green bean casserole got a special shout-out because it’s apparently celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.  44% of people call Campbell’s green bean casserole recipe “the most iconic Thanksgiving side.”

It’s especially popular in the Midwest.

63% of Americans like Thanksgiving sides more than the entrée, so turkey, ham, or some sort of nut loaf if you’re vegan.  And 47% say they’d be fine to fill their plate with JUST side dishes.

33% of people tried a brand-new side dish last year that they’ve never made before.  And 81% would consider modifying at least one recipe to try something new.

Oh and this should go without saying:  85% of adults say leftovers are one of the best parts of Thanksgiving.
