Do you know what to do if you drop your iPhone in water? If you answered put it in rice, you are wrong You’ve probably have been told about putting a wet cell phones in rice, but Apple is warning you NOT to do it.
The new iPhones are more sophisticated and some can handle certain amounts of water. They also have a “liquid detection” warning that tells you if your USB-C port gets wet.
Here are somethings you CAN do if your phone takes an unexpected swim. First, dry the phone with a cloth. Second, tap the phone gently to “drain” water from the ports. Third, Leave the phone in a dry area with airflow, and fourth, avoid putting cables inside until it’s completely dry.
Also don’t insert a foreign object, such as a cotton swab or a paper towel, into the connector. Save the rice for dinner. Putting your device in rice could allow small particles of the food that could do damage to your iPhone.”
