As summer winds down, Blood Assurance is issuing an urgent call to the community to prioritize blood donations before the end of August. Over the past two weeks, donations have declined due to families focusing on back-to-school preparations, but local hospitals cannot afford to wait.

Even a short dip in donations can create challenges for the patients depending on us,” said Garry Allison, Senior Vice President of Operations for Blood Assurance. “We need donors to step forward now so hospitals have the blood they need in the weeks ahead.”

This is also the final opportunity for donors to receive a $20 e-gift card as a token of appreciation for their lifesaving contributions. Starting in September, Blood Assurance will kick off a new promotion featuring a special 9/11 memorial T-shirt to honor first responders and remember lives lost on that historic day.

Blood donations are crucial for trauma victims, cancer patients, surgical procedures, and many others who rely on a steady and reliable blood supply. Remember, just one donation can save up to three lives.

Appointments can be scheduled easily at bloodassurance.org/schedule, by calling 800-962-0628, or by texting BAGIVE to 999777. Walk-in donations are also welcome.

To be eligible, donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. Donors are encouraged to eat an iron-rich meal, stay well-hydrated, and avoid caffeine before donating.
