Bloodanooga Fall Blood Drive Promotes Life-Saving Donations with Spooky Themes and Rewards
In The Know with Gino…
Blood Assurance and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) are teaming up for a thrilling event of giving during the annual Fall Bloodanooga Blood Drive, scheduled for October 28th-29th. The event will runs from 10am to 6pm each day at 701 Vine Street, nestled between the University Center and Grote Hall.
This year’s theme, “Terror at the Tailgate“, promises a fun and festive atmosphere for donors eager to make a difference. In addition to the chilling theme, donors will receive a limited-edition Bloodanooga T-shirt and have a chance to win daily prizes, including two $100 gift cards — one awarded each day.
Blood Assurance is emphasizing the urgent need for platelet donations, which are currently critically low. Platelets are vital for patients undergoing cancer treatments, trauma victims, and others in life-threatening situations. Because platelets only last about five days, a steady supply depends heavily on regular donations. Blood Assurance is urging eligible donors to schedule platelet appointments now to ensure that hospitals can continue to provide life-saving care without interruption.
To recognize loyal platelet donors, Blood Assurance has launched the Heart of Gold Club. Donors who give platelets four times between October 1st and December 31st will receive a $50 e-gift card, with options including Amazon, Walmart, Target, and more. No prior sign-up is required—just donate, and ensure your email address is up to date to receive your reward.
Donors of O-negative blood and AB plasma at Bloodanooga will also be rewarded with a $25 e-gift card. O-negative is known as the universal blood type, critical in emergencies, while AB plasma is essential for trauma, burns, and clotting disorders.
For those unable to attend the Bloodanooga event but still wish to contribute, donations made at any Blood Assurance donor center or mobile drive through October 31st will earn participants a pair of limited-edition “Count Me In” Halloween socks.
Since its founding in 1972, Blood Assurance has been a vital nonprofit in the region, serving more than 70 healthcare facilities across Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Their mission remains to provide a safe, adequate supply of blood and blood components to every patient in need — right here at home.
