Thanks to the Internet, ALL fandoms are toxic. Or, at the very least, the Internet makes it seem like every fandom’s most toxic contingencies have taken over.
And this would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad:
Fans of “Breaking Bad” are in a review-bombing war with fans of “Game of Thrones”.
It all started because an episode from “Breaking Bad’s” final season, the one titled “Ozymandias”, was the top-rated TV episode of all time on IMDB. With hundreds of thousands of user ratings, it stood at a PERFECT 10.
And fans of the show wanted to keep it that way. So whenever an episode of a show seemed to be racking up 10-star reviews, “Breaking Bad” fans started bombing it with ONE-STAR reviews.
Episodes of “Succession”, “Chernobyl”, and even the “Breaking Bad” spinoff “Better Call Saul” that had all 10, 9, and 8-star reviews were suddenly torpedoed by up to 2,000 one-star reviews.
Then it happened to the “Game of Thrones” spin-off, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.
The episode “In the Name of the Mother” had picked up 99,000 10-star reviews, and “Breaking Bad” fans couldn’t have that… so they started review-bombing it.
But “Game of Thrones” fans retaliated, giving “Ozymandias” more than 70,000 one-star reviews, and dropping its average score from 10 to 9.5 where it’s currently TIED with the “Seven Kingdoms” episode.
And this, despite its infinite promise, is where the Internet has delivered mankind.
