Jon Stewart is continuing his fight to pass a bill that will provide benefits to veterans. On Monday (August 1st), a video was released on Twitter showing the former Daily Show host shouting at conservative political commentator Jack Posobiec in D.C.

It is unclear exactly what happened before Stewart, in his own words, "lost his temper a little bit" and began shouting at the media personality. In a later video, it seems the pair made peace with one another, as it became clear Posobiec also wanted to get the bill passed.

"I felt like I was being trolled," Stewart said in the video. "I realized that the important thing is, we just got to get this done for these guys and get them over the finish line to get the health care they need."

On Monday's (August 1st) episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg paid a special tribute to the legendary Nichelle Nichols, who died on Saturday (July 30th) at the age of 89. Nichols is most known for her role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura on Star Trek: The Original Series. Goldberg later played Guinan on Star Trek: Next Generation.

"A trailblazer, a heroine, and an extraordinary woman—someone who inspired millions and millions of people but inspired me. Nichelle was the first Black person I'd ever seen who made it to the future," Goldberg said. She also referred to Nichols as "the one beacon that said, ‘Yes, we'll be there.'"

The Ghost actress added, "It just made me feel like that was an amazing thing and she helped propel other women to go into space. She was extraordinary and I was lucky enough to spend time with her over the years. She was my friend and she will be missed."

Zoe Saldana, who plays Uhura in a Star-Trek reboot, also honored the late Nichols on Monday (August 1st) with an Instagram post. "I'm saddened to learn of Nichelle Nichols' passing. We have lost a true star- a unique artist who was ahead of her time always. She's an icon, an activist and most importantly an amazing woman- who blazed a trail that has shown so many how to see women of color in a different light. Her strive for equality was unwavering," she wrote.

ANGELINA JOLIE'S DAUGHTER ZAHARA WILL ATTEND SPELMAN COLLEGE IN THE FALL: On Sunday (July 31st), Angelina Jolie announced that her daughter, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, will be attending Spelman College in the fall. On Monday (August 1st), Fox posted a series of behind-the-scenes shots showing the pair posing in a bathroom— including one where Kardashian straddles Fox on the toilet. A statement by Haggis' lawyer reads, "After viewing the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the District Court of Lecce, an appellate court with three judges, unanimously rejected a prosecutor's appeal to have Haggis' house arrest reinstated." Haggis allegedly forced a "young woman, known by him from some time ago, to submit to sexual relations."

DOLPH LUNDGREN COMMENTS ON ‘DRAGO' CONTROVERSY: Following Sylvester Stallone's most recent post dragging Rocky producer Irwin Winkler over rights to the franchise, Dolph Lundgren posted to Instagram to share his side of the story. "Just to set the record straight regarding a possible Drago spinoff. There's no approved script, no deals in place, no director and I was personally under the impression that my friend Sly Stallone was involved as a producer or even as an actor. ‘THE FLASH' TO END WITH NINTH SEASON: According to The Hollywood Reporter, CW's The Flash will end after its ninth season. Executive producer and showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement Monday (August 1st), "Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor and spectacle. And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. CMA Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan and one of the biggest names in NFL history, Peyton Manning will join forces to host The 56th Annual CMA Awards. Luke made the announcement on Monday (8-1) while guest hosting Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Through a press release, Luke stated, "We have become great friends through the years and what he brings to the table is gonna make it even more of a blast."

Manning, has attended the show in the past and commented, "I am such a huge fan of Country Music, so to have the chance to stand among so many incredibly talented artists is an absolute honor."
The star-studded event will air live from Nashville on November 9^th on ABC. This will be Luke's second consecutive year to host the CMA Awards and Manning's first.

Nichelle Nichols, one of the first Black women to play a major role on primetime television, died on Saturday (July 30th) at the age of 89. Nichols was most known for her work on Star Trek: The Original Series as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, a role that Martin Luther King Jr. referred to as "the first non-stereotypical role portrayed by a Black woman in television history."

Nichols' son, Kyle Johnson, released a statement to her official website Sunday (July 31st). "Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away. Her light however, like the ancient galaxies now being seen for the first time, will remain for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration," he wrote. "Hers was a life well lived and as such a model for us all."

The trailblazing actress portrayed one of the first interracial kisses on US television with her Star Trek costar William Shatner. Many stars took to social media to honor her legacy.

George Takei wrote, "I shall have more to say about the trailblazing, incomparable Nichelle Nichols, who shared the bridge with us as Lt. Uhura of the USS Enterprise, and who passed today at age 89. For today, my heart is heavy, my eyes shining like the stars you now rest among, my dearest friend." He added, "We lived long and prospered together." Lynda Carter, Kate Mulgrew, and Stacey Abrams also honored the late actress.

Jennifer Lopez's first husband, Ojani Noa, opened up to The Daily Mail recently, sharing his thoughts on his former wife's recent marriage to Ben Affleck. Noa met Lopez while he was waiting tables in Miami after fleeing Cuba as a refugee, and the pair were later married in 1997.

"Ben is husband number four. I was husband number one and she told me I was the love of her life. When we lay in bed on our wedding night, she said we would be together forever," he told the publication.

Four months after he slapped Chris Rock at the 94th annual Academy Awards, Will Smith is attempting to make amends. On Friday (July 29th), the King Richard actor released a video apology to Rock.

"I reached out to Chris, and the message that came back is he's not ready to talk, but when he is, he will reach out. I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk," Smith said in the YouTube video.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor shared that he was "fogged out" following the infamous slap—and this is why he didn't apologize to Rock during his acceptance speech for Best Actor.

"Disappointing people is my central trauma. I hate when I let people down, so it hurts psychologically and emotionally to know that I didn't live up to people's image and impression of me. The work I'm trying to do is I am deeply remorseful, and I'm trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself," Smith said.

CHRIS ROCK JOKES THAT HE GOT HIT BY ‘SUGE SMITH'

Hours after Will Smith released his video apology, Chris Rock made a joke comparing Smith to the former Death Row Records executive Suge Knight, who is currently incarcerated.

At Atlanta's Fox Theater on Friday night (July 29th), Rock said, "Everybody is trying to be a f—ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims."

Rock continued, "Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith … I went to work the next day, I got kids."

PAT CARROLL DIES AT 95: Deadline reports that comedian and actress Pat Carroll died on Saturday (July 30th) in her home on Cape Cod while recovering from pneumonia. She was 95 years old. Carroll appeared on shows such as The Jimmy Durante Show, The Danny Thomas Show, Laverne & Shirley, and ER. She also voiced Ursula in The Little Mermaid, a role she said was one of her favorites. Carroll is survived by her daughters, Kerry Karsian and Tara Karsian, and her granddaughter, Evan Karsian-McCormick.

HBO MAX CANCELS ‘GORDITA CHRONICLES:' Today reports that Gordita Chronicles has been cancelled after just one season. Executive producers Eva Longoria and Zoe Saldaña shared that they are "heartbroken" by the news. In a joint statement, Longoria and Saldaña said, "We are heartbroken by the larger programming changes at HBO Max that will not allow our special show that is ‘Gordita Chronicles,' showrun by LatinX comedy powerhouse Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz, to have a second season at its original home. Despite being an Emmy-nominated actress, Sydney Sweeney says she doesn't feel financially secure.

The Euphoria star told The Hollywood Reporter, "If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don't have income to cover that. I don't have someone supporting me, I don't have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help."

She adds, "I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that's more than my mortgage."

According to the actress, "They don't pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals."

Jon Stewart dragged the Republican party Thursday (July 28th) for voting "no" on a bill to expand healthcare coverage for veterans.

The former Daily Show host called Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey a "f**king coward" for failing to vote for the PACT Act, a bill that would help Vietnam-era veterans exposed to the deadly herbicide Agent Orange.

He also accused GOP Senators of failing to support the troops while supporting the war machine.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK TO RETURN TO 'THE VIEW': Elisabeth Hasselbeck will return to The View on August 3rd. The Fox and Friends alum announced Wednesday (July 27th) that she will be guest hosting the ABC morning talk show. She told People that it is "an honor to co-host" the show she previously lead from 2003 to 2013.

PHYLICIA RASHAD JOINS 'THE GOOD FIGHT': Deadline reports that Phylicia Rashad and Sharar Isaac will join The Good Fight for Season 6. The two will both take on recurring roles in the Paramount+ series' final season.

Gwyneth Paltrow says that life is hard for the kids of celebrity parents.

In a conversation with Hailey Bieber for her YouTube series, Who's in my Bathroom?, the GOOP founder said, "As the child of someone, you get access other people don't have, so the playing field is not level in that way. However, I really do feel that once your foot is in the door, which you unfairly got in, then you almost have to work twice as hard and be twice as good."

JACK OSBOURNE WELCOMES DAUGHTER WITH AREE GEARHART: Jack Osbourne has welcomed his first child with fiancé Aree Gearhart. The 36-year-old son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne wrote on Instagram Wednesday (July 27th), "I'm very happy to announce Maple Artemis Osbourne! TONY DOW DIES FOLLOWING PREMATURE DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT: Tony Dow, best known for his role as Wally Cleaver on Leave It To Beaver, died Wednesday (July 27th) at the age of 77. The actor was still in hospice care Tuesday (July 26th) when the news of his death was prematurely announced. His management told TVLine that his family was at his side while he passed.

'WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY' TO PREMIERE IN NOVEMBER: Roku revealed Wednesday (July 27th) that Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will premiere exclusively on The Roku Channel on November 4th. The film features Danielle Radcliffe in the title role and includes Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson as radio broadcaster Dr. Demento, and Quinto Brunson as Oprah Winfrey.

DEACON WITHERSPOON TO MAKE ACTING DEBUT: The 18-year-old son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe is set to make his acting debut. Netflix announced Wednesday (July 27th), that Deacon Phillippe will guest star in several episodes of Never Have I Ever's third season. According to Page Six, the recent high school graduate is now pursuing both acting and music careers.

DAVID KRUMHOLTS TO REPRISE 'SANTA CLAUSE' ROLE: Deadline reports that David Krumholtz will reprise his role as Bernard the Elf in the upcoming Disney+ series based on The Santa Clause films. Krumholtz played Bernard in the first two movies in the three-film franchise. Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell are also poised to return as Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

HARRY SHUM JR TO JOIN 'GREY'S ANATOMY': Harry Shum Jr. is joining the cast of Grey's Anatomy. Deadline reports that the Glee alum is boarding the medical drama's upcoming 19th season as a surgical resident.

On Tuesday (July 26th), a statement was released on Tony Dow's official Facebook page that said the Leave It to Beaver actor had died. Many news outlets published obituaries for Dow, but the statement was later rescinded.

Dow's management team said that his wife, Lauren Shulkind, believed he had passed away—but it turned out that wasn't the case. "This morning Tony's wife Lauren, who was very distraught, had notified us that Tony had passed and asked that we notify all his fans. As we are sure you can understand, this has been a very trying time for her," an updated announcement said.

The statement continued, "We have since received a call from Tony's daughter-in-law saying that while Tony is not doing well, he has not yet passed. Tony's son Christopher and his daughter-in-law Melissa have also been by his side comforting him, and we will keep you posted on any future updates." Dow's son also told Fox News that he was still alive and was receiving hospice care in his "last hours."
