James Caan Dead At Age 82

James Caan died Wednesday (July 6th) at the age of 82.

A statement posted to The Godfather star's Twitter Thursday (July 7th) read, "It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy at this difficult time."

Friends and costars paid tribute to the star on social media, including his Misery director, Rob Reiner, who wrote, "So sorry to hear the news. I loved working with him. And the only Jew I knew who could calf rope with the best of them. Love to the family.

Al Pacino, who starred alongside Caan in The Godfather told The Associated Press, "Jimmy was my fictional brother and my lifelong friend. It's hard to believe that he won't be in the world anymore because he was so alive and daring. A great actor, a brilliant director and my dear friend. I'm gonna miss him."

He was also well known for his roles in Elf, Brian's Song, The Gambler and Funny Lady.

Caan is survived by his five children, including Hawaii 5-0 star, Scott Caan.

Hayden Panettiere Opens Up About Alcohol And Opioid Addiction

Hayden Panettiere revealed to People that she struggled with an alcohol and opioid addiction that began when she was first offered "happy pills" before walking red carets at the age of 15.

She told the outlet, "They were to make me peppy during interviews. I had no idea that this was not an appropriate thing, or what door that would open for me when it came to my addiction."

The 32-year-old said that although she managed to quit drinking while she was pregnant, she turned to alcohol to help her through her postpartum depression after 7-year-old Kaya was born.

The Heroes alum explained, "I never had the feeling that I wanted to harm my child, but I didn't want to spend any time with her, There was just this gray color in my life."

In 2018, the year Nashville came to an end, the star did "the hardest thing I ever had to do," and sent Kaya to live with her father, Wladimir Klitschko, in Ukraine.

Sometime after that she ended up in the hospital with jaudice and was warned that her liver could give out. The actress went to rehab for eight months and credits her stay for giving her the tools to "get over the hump" of her addiction.

Barry Sonnenfeld, the director of Men in Black, admitted in an interview with Insider that he downplayed the role of Agent J. to Chris O'Donnell because he wanted it to go to Will Smith. Producers wanted O'Donnell for the part.

Amber Heard's Attorneys Request Johnny Depp Defamation Verdict Be Tossed

Amber Heard's attorneys have filed a motion calling for the verdict in Johnny Depp's defamation trial to be thrown out.

In the memorandum submitted to the Fairfax County Circuit Court on Friday (July 1st), the Aquaman actress' attorneys argue that Depp did not provide evidence of actual malice or defamation. Instead, they state that he "proceeded solely on a defamation by implication theory, abandoning any claims that Ms. Heard's statements were actually false."

Additionally, the document includes a request to investigate "improper juror service." Heard's lawyers claim one of the jurors listed their birth year as 1945, whereas "publicly available information" shows they were born in 1970.

"This discrepancy raises the question whether Juror 15 actually received a summons for jury duty and was properly vetted by the court to serve on the jury," Heard's attorneys said.

In response to this filing, one of Depp's lawyers said it is "what they expected, just longer, no more substantive."

JAMES CAMERON MIGHT NOT DIRECT FUTURE ‘AVATAR' MOVIES: James Cameron might be taking a step back from the Avatar franchise. In an interview with Empire, the Titanic director said, "The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming. I've got some other things I'm developing as well that are exciting. I think eventually over time – I don't know if that's after three or after four – I'll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I'm also interested in. Or maybe not. I don't know."

YOUTUBE CHANNEL FOR ‘THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW' IS DELETED: Variety reports that the YouTube channel for The Wendy Williams Show seems to have disappeared. Searches for the channel through YouTube did not yield any results. This comes two weeks after the final episode of the 13th season aired.

‘MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE' DIRECTOR SHARES BEHIND-THE-SCENES PHOTO OF TOM CRUISE: On Sunday (July 3rd), Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie wished Tom Cruise a happy 60th birthday by posting what appears to be a behind-the-scenes photo from the new movie. The image shows Cruise hanging onto the wing of a red vintage biplane. Deadline reports that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One is scheduled to be released on July 14th, 2023.
