Celebrate Independence Day with Family Fun at Creative Discovery Museum’s Red, White, and Blue Day

This July 4th, Creative Discovery Museum invites families and children to join in festive activities and educational crafts as part of their annual Red, White, and Blue Day celebration. Marking America’s birthday, the event combines fun, learning, and patriotic cheer at the museum located in downtown Chattanooga.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a variety of themed activities designed to teach the significance of the holiday while having a great time. Highlights include a captivating science show exploring the science behind fire and colorful fireworks, where kids can learn about the science that makes fireworks explode in vibrant hues.
Families can also leave their mark on a collaborative mosaic, participate in a lively dance party, and create patriotic Shrinky Dinks to take home.
Activities scheduled for the day feature:
– All-day: Making 4th of July-themed Shrinky Dinks in the Make It Workshop
– All-day: Contributing to a collaborative mosaic in the Art Studio
– All-day: Crafting patriotic projects at the Creation Station
– 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Signing the Declaration of Independence with a feather quill and ink in the Atrium
– 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Designing firework headbands in the Atrium
– 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.: Engaging in a science demonstration titled “Great Balls of Fire and Fireworks Colors“
– 11 a.m.: Storytime featuring “My Fourth of July” by Jerry Spinelli
– 3:30 p.m.: A lively dance party to celebrate the holiday
As the day comes to a close, visitors can witness the museum’s beloved tradition—the 21 Geyser Salute. This exciting spectacle involves launching 21 soda geysers into the sky, mimicking the classic science experiment with a festive twist. The event is complemented by FREE frozen treats from Mayfield Dairy, offering a refreshing way to cool off after a day of celebration.
Founded 30 years ago, Creative Discovery Museum has established itself as a premier non-profit children’s museum, renowned for its engaging hands-on exhibits and educational programs in arts and sciences.
