Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors is thrilled to present the 2nd Annual Chatt Town Cool Down, taking place in downtown Chattanooga on August 23rd and 24th. This end-of-summer event promises a weekend full of excitement, featuring outdoor adventures, action-packed sports, live music, delicious food, and activities for the entire family.

The festivities kick off on Friday, August 23rd, at Ross’s Landing with “Splash Down into the Tennessee River” at 6 p.m. This unique event, hosted with ChattSkates, will feature skateboarders and bikers launching off ramps into the river. Families can also enjoy a lively foam dance party and a Roller Disco Party, with on-site skate rentals available. The evening continues with music, yoga, circus aerials, and sunset films presented by Lookout Wild.

Friday evening will also see the return of the “Black Women Paddle” event across the Tennessee River, celebrating the H2O Life‘s “Women on Water” initiative. This inspiring paddle begins at 6 p.m. at Ross’s Landing, and all are welcome to join. Limited equipment is available, with further details at OutdoorChattanooga.com

The excitement continues on Saturday, August 24th, with the annual “Paddle Parade.” Formerly known as Paddle Fest, this leisurely 5.4-mile paddle down the scenic Tennessee River from Rivermont Park to Coolidge Park offers a relaxed experience for kayakers, canoers, and stand-up paddleboarders. This event aligns with Chattanooga’s role as a key destination on The Tennessee RiverLine, North America’s premier regional trail system.

The Paddle Parade begins at 10 a.m. from Rivermont Park and is open to all paddlers, with free shuttles provided. Participants can compete in costume contests, and equipment rentals are available through local partners.

Throughout Saturday, the celebration continues with the River Market at the Tennessee Aquarium, showcasing live music, food, and local artisans. At noon, Coolidge Park will transform into an adventure playground, featuring climbing walls, a foam slip n’ slide, disc golf, art installations, slacklines, a bike rodeo, free yoga, a sprinkler run, live animal demonstrations, and more. The day will conclude with the Riverfront Nights concert, featuring The Afternooners, at Ross’s Landing at 6:30 p.m.

The entire community is encouraged to join in the fun, with all activities being family-friendly and free of charge. For more information on rentals, registration, and the full schedule of events, visit OutdoorChattanooga.com.
