Chattanooga Oktoberfest Is This Weekend!

Oktoberfest

In The Know with Gino…

Excitement is building as organizers prepare for the return of Chattanooga Oktoberfest, set to take place this weekend at the First Horizon Pavilion for its 24th year. Recognized as one of the city’s most beloved fall traditions, the festival promises a lively celebration of German culture, complete with authentic music, seasonal beers, and hearty German-inspired cuisine.

This family-friendly event offers plenty of entertainment for all ages, including the popular “chicken dance” and opportunities to enjoy traditional bratwurst and pretzels.

Visitors can also indulge in a wide variety of local and seasonal beers, with dozens of options available from area breweries such as OddStory Brewing, Five Wits, WanderLinger, and Hutton & Smith. The “locals-only” themed Biergarten located at the rear of the pavilion provides a relaxed setting to chat with brewers and sample their craft beers, accompanied by a selection of food and modern German and American tunes spun by a DJ.

Out front, guests can explore numerous food trucks and vendors offering Bavarian favorites alongside festival staples. A special outdoor Biergarten with ample seating ensures plenty of space to enjoy a tall pour from a commemorative half-liter stein, perfect for celebrating the season.

Music and entertainment are central to the festival, with the return of the Wurstbrats Oompah Band performing under the big tent throughout the weekend. The band’s lively tunes are sure to get everyone dancing, including polka lessons and hourly stein-holding contests. Kids and families can look forward to engaging themed games and cultural activities.

A highlight of the weekend is the Mr. & Ms. Chattanooga Oktoberfest contest, taking place Saturday at 4:00 p.m. on the main stage. Participants interested in competing should arrive by 3:45 p.m. to showcase their Oktoberfest spirit.

The event is FREE to attend, and visitors are encouraged to don their best German costumes to add to the festive atmosphere. For a full schedule of activities and updates, interested attendees can visit CHATTANOOGAOKTOBERFEST.COM.
