Chattanooga Room In The Inn Seeks Community Support to Replace Aging HVAC Systems
In The Know with Gino…
Chattanooga Room in the Inn (CRITI), a vital transitional shelter for women and children overcoming homelessness, is reaching out to the community for help after discovering that two of its four heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units are on the brink of failure.
The shelter, which accommodates up to 35 residents at a time, depends heavily on its cooling systems to ensure a safe and comfortable environment, especially during Tennessee’s hot and humid summer months. While two units have recently been replaced, the remaining two are aging and require frequent repairs. Experts warn that these units are unlikely to survive through the upcoming fall season.
The organization has solicited four bids from HVAC professionals and has identified a cost-effective solution to replace both remaining units at an estimated total of $22,177. This expense was not included in CRITI’s current operating budget, making community support essential.
CRITI is now encouraging local donors, businesses, and residents to contribute toward the replacement effort. Donations can be made online through their website at chattanoogaroomintheinn.com/hvac or via mail to their address at 230 N. Highland Park Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404.
For more information or to make a contribution, residents are encouraged to visit CRITI’s website.
