Chattanooga Tourism Co. has unveiled an exciting plan for the next three years, partnering with the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and other organizations to bring the World of Bluegrass event to the Scenic City from 2025 to 2027.

Ken White, Executive Director of IBMA, highlighted the unique enthusiasm and passion of Chattanooga’s community as a key factor in the city being chosen over other contenders.

The World of Bluegrass, scheduled for September 16-20, 2025, promises to be a vibrant five-day celebration. Here’s a preview of what attendees can look forward to:

  • Convention: Engage with industry professionals through informative sessions and networking opportunities.
  • Tradeshow: Discover the latest products and innovations in bluegrass music.
  • Awards Show: Celebrate the best in bluegrass music with performances and recognitions.
  • Artist Showcases: Enjoy live performances from top bluegrass artists across downtown Chattanooga.
  • Live Music Festival: A two-day festival featuring performances from leading bluegrass musicians.

This event is made possible by the Tennessee Special Event Fund, with Chattanooga being the inaugural recipient.

Economic Impact

Chattanooga Tourism Co. projects significant economic benefits from hosting the World of Bluegrass. The event is expected to attract over 18,000 overnight visitors and more than 45,000 total visitors, including day visitors. The estimated economic impact is $30.1 million, with $1.1 million in state tax revenue. Visitor spending will support local jobs and generate additional tax revenues, benefiting multiple industries beyond tourism.
