This week’s Simple Simon goes to Studio Kids Little River daycare in Miami, Florida. The pre-school has made national headlines this week, because in one of their learning modules they put some of the kids in Black face. For those who don’t know what black face is is a form of theatrical makeup used predominantly by non-Black people to portray a caricature of a Black person. It is a highly offensive and racist practice that is seldom seen anymore and this pre-school thought it was a good idea to use this as a teaching element for pre-school aged kids. How this school didn’t get the memo that, this type of behavior is ok is absurd and parents of some of the students are outraged. Below is is an interview with one of the mothers. Needless to say enrollment at the school is about to drop in the coming weeks.
