Doggie Day Out: Humane Educational Society’s New Program to Connect Community and Canines

In The Know with Gino…

In a heartwarming initiative aimed at enhancing the community’s bond with its four-legged friends, the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society (HES) has announced an exciting new program that will allow residents to “check out” a dog for outings around the city. The program is designed to provide dogs in need of socialization with new experiences while offering community members a chance to enjoy the companionship of a furry friend during local adventures.

As part of the launch, HES is seeking the community’s input to help name the program. From now until the end of the month, residents can vote online for their favorite name suggestion. The winning title will be unveiled in September, along with details about how the program will function.

Participants in the program will have the chance to borrow a dog for a specified period, allowing them to take their new canine companion on walks, trips to dog-friendly establishments, or even just relaxing afternoons in the park. HES staff will provide guidance on dog care and behavior to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both the dog and the borrower.

To cast your vote for the name of this innovative program, please click here. Suggestions range from playful options like “Snout and About” to more straightforward names like “Buddy Up Chattanooga!.”

HES hopes the new program will not only increase adoptions and awareness of the dogs in their care but also strengthen community ties and promote responsible pet ownership.
