Getting Your Kids To Bed On Time

Nine in 10 parents say bedtime is the hardest routine to reset after summer, a new poll finds. Top challenges include children resisting earlier bedtimes (49%) and excessive screen use before bed (38%). Many also cite later summer bedtimes becoming the norm (39%) and parents being out of their usual routine (33%). Getting back into the habit of doing homework (36%), getting out of the door in time for school (26%) and sticking to a set wind down period before bed (23%) were among the other ‘back to school’ challenges. The survey found over 60% of parents say bedtime rituals impact their kids’ school performance and 90% view bedtime routines as important for themselves. To help your kids get to bed on time try setting a routine, dim the lights, no screens an hour before bed and include calming activities like quiet reading.
