Hixson Couple Tried Defraud The IRS

You should never play with other people’s money, especially Uncle Sam’s. Today’s Simple Simons tried to defraud the IRS out of more than $700,000. According to court records that were released last week, the IRS claims Tara and Tzephanyah Abraham of Hixson, alongside Fola Mborika Will I Am El of Killeen, TX were members of a purported tribal organization called the League of Indian Nations of North America.

The court document says back in August 2020, Tara (a.k.a. Tara Lyn Pruitt), Tzephanyah (a.k.a Steven Williams, Chief Tall Bear), and Will I Am l El (a.k.a. Paulette Williams) conspired to file a fraudulent income tax return on behalf of a purported trust called Mother Earth Trust and then laundered the resulting refund proceeds to purchase a home and two vehicles.

Each person reportedly had a role in this plan. Pruitt allegedly sought the refund of more than $700,000 based on false payments to the IRS of more than $1.1 million. Now why on earth would these individuals think that the IRS would not be a little suspicious of having to cut a check for over $700000 to an organization that allegedly paid $1.1 million dollars in taxes. If convicted the alleged fraudsters are looking at jail time, fines and restitution payments.
