How To Call In Sick After Saint Patrick’s Day
This is going to be a great weekend for several reasons, one, it is the first full weekend of Day Light Savings Time and two, St. Patrick’s Day is on Sunday. With the latter being said, we all know a lot of people will enjoying lots of Guiness and Irish Car Bombs over the weekend. Now most of us can pull it together after a weekend of getting lit, but for those who may have went a little to hard our friends at Zippia have some tips on how to call in sick without looking guilty.
1. Keep it brief. Less is more. Tell your boss as little as possible without sounding sneaky. Giving lots of details isn’t needed, and the more information you add, the more suspicion it can cause.
2. Acknowledge bad timing. Your supervisor/boss knows it’s a Monday and the day after St. Patrick’s Day . . . so NOT saying anything would be suspicious. So unless you spent the whole week bragging about how drunk you’re going to get this weekend, you should be in the clear.
3. Only tell people who need to know. Follow your company’s directives, but typically you should only need to tell your boss and the coworkers who might be affected by your absence.
4. Offer to do makeup work. You could get stuck doing it but you might not. But it’ll make you look like a team player.
