Drone Delivers Steak, Crab Legs And Marijuana To South Carolina Prison
Authorities seized a drone Sunday morning after it dropped an unusual contraband package into Lee Correctional Institution’s yard in Bishopville. The South Carolina Department of Corrections discovered raw steak, crab legs, Old Bay seasoning, marijuana, and cigarettes intended for inmates. “Seems some folks were planning an early holiday Old Bay crab boil and steak dinner along with their marijuana and cigarettes,” officials posted on social media with #ContrabandChristmas. Prison spokeswoman Chrysti Shain said, “I’m guessing the inmates who were expecting the package are crabby.” No arrests have been made as investigations continue. Flying drones near South Carolina prisons carries up to 30 days in jail, while dropping contraband is a felony punishable by 10 years imprisonment. (Story URL)
