Ed Sheeran Accusers Banned From Perfroming ‘Let’s Get It On’ In Courtroom Copyright Battle

A federal judge has ruled that Ed Sheeran’s copyright accusers will not be able to perform Marvin Gay’s “Let’s Get It On” live in the courtroom. Billboard reports that U.S. District Judge Louis Stanton called the plan to perform the song in a trial over Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” “unreliable and inadmissible.”

However Judge Stanton’s decision, filed on March 10th, will allow the heirs of “Let’s Get It On” co-writer Ed Townsend, to play a YouTube clip showing the “Bad Habits” singer seamlessly transitioning from “Thinking Out Loud” to “Let’s Get It On” during a 2014 concert.

The trial to determine if Sheeran’s 2014 hit infringed upon the Marvin Gay classic is set to start on April 24th.
