Porn Company Files Thousands Of Lawsuits Against Its Own Viewers
Strike 3 Holdings has filed over 20,000 federal lawsuits since 2017, making the Delaware company America’s “most prolific copyright plaintiff” according to Guardian court record analysis. The studio owns rights to approximately 2,000 adult films, mostly from Vixen Media Group, and uses proprietary software to track IP addresses allegedly downloading its content. Strike 3 sues “John Does” and subpoenas internet providers to identify real users. Most defendants settle for thousands of dollars to avoid public exposure, with five-figure settlements common. Defense attorneys and judges have compared the process to extortion. Legal experts estimate annual settlements could reach $20 million to $30 million. None of Strike 3’s cases have reached trial, leaving evidence-gathering methods unchallenged. (Story URL)
