In The Know with Gino: Chattanooga Steam = A New Era Dawns for Professional Softball in the Southeast

Chattanooga, TN – In an exciting development for sports enthusiasts in the region, Connect Sports proudly presents the Chattanooga Steam, a dynamic independent semi-professional fastpitch team set to make their debut in the 2024 season. With a vision to capture the hearts of Chattanooga and its surrounding areas, the Steam aspires to become the premier professional softball team of the southeast.
Led by an exceptional and experienced team, the Steam boasts an impressive lineup both on and off the field. Donald Pickett, a 20-year Division 1 coaching veteran, including 15 years as a Head Coach, has been appointed as the General Manager. Accompanying him is Marty McDaniel, the Head Coach, whose extensive 20+ years at the University of Tennessee and Georgia Tech, including 7 Women’s College World Series appearances and numerous All-American accolades, bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team. Additionally, Brandon Carr, with over two decades of experience as a pitching coach and mentor to various Power 5, Division 1, and Junior College All-Americans, joins as the Assistant Coach.
The Steam’s inaugural season promises an action-packed schedule, featuring a seven-week, 30+ game lineup commencing the week of June 17th. The team will face off against other independent professional teams, national squads, and All-Star teams, providing fans with thrilling matchups throughout the summer. Chattanooga locals can catch the Steam in multiple series held at Frost Stadium in Warner Park, ensuring an electrifying atmosphere right in the heart of the city.
