Katy Perry Lost a Legal Battle Against… Katie Perry

Katy Perry has come up short in a legal battle against an Australian designer named… Katie Perry.
As you can read, Designer Katie spells her first name with an “i.e.” instead of a “y“, and 15 years ago, she got a cease-and-desist letter from Singer Katy, saying she couldn’t launch a fashion brand under her own name.
But yesterday, the Australian High Court ruled that Designer Katie’s clothing line does NOT violate Singer Katy’s trademark.
Designer Katie says, quote, “Without this hanging over my head, which is how it’s been really since 2009. Just a heaviness, and lots of fear, and limbo. Now I can start really looking forward and focusing on the future. I’m really excited.”
