Millennials Are Totally Confused by Gen Z’s Dating Habits
Millennials were the first to have online dating as a primary option, in their 20s at least . . . Gen X couldn’t go out on Friday nights because “TGIF” was on . . . and when Boomers went on dates, everything was in black-and-white.
And Gen Z? Well . . . Millennials online are listing the “Gen Z dating behaviors that would’ve been absolutely unacceptable when THEY were younger.” Here are a few . . . and apparently the “ick” is real:
1. “Gen Z gets the ‘ick’ over the smallest things. Sure, if something is a deal-breaker, you wouldn’t want to be with that person, but ghosting someone over something silly is so weird to me.”
2. “Gen Z will call something a ‘red flag’ when it’s actually a green flag, just because it gives them the ‘ick.’ But then they’ll turn around and celebrate actual red flags. Mind blown.”
3. “This whole ‘exclusive but not official’ dating phase that Gen Z has normalized just seems like an excuse to avoid commitment.”
4. “Gen Z men feel like they need to fake confidence, act serious, and be nonchalant all the time. There’s no need to put on that act just to seem attractive.”
5. “People don’t want to deal with someone’s minor flaws anymore. It’s easy to reject John or Mary over something like being untidy or impatient when you think there’s a perfect person waiting just a few swipes away!”
6. “Gen Z needs to stop calling everything ‘weird’ or ‘cringe’ just because it’s something they wouldn’t do themselves, whether it’s someone’s style or hobbies. Knock it off and give people a chance.”
7. “There’s way too much ‘therapy speak.’ and way too many expectations from people who barely have any life experience or any real knowledge.”
8. “Whether you’re a man or a woman, don’t expect the other person to magically realize you’re flirting and ask you out. You actually have to put in some effort. You need to have at least a little more personality than a deflated balloon.” (Wow. These Millennials aren’t holding back. Maybe THAT was one of THEIR toxic dating habits.)
