No one could blame you for thinking that the news in 2023 was just one stinker after another but maybe you weren’t looking in the right places. ABC News has just published its Top Feel-Good News Stories of 2023, and it includes these beauties:
- A patient in Missouri got an urgently-needed kidney transplant and discovered only when he woke up after the surgery that his anonymous donor was his daughter. She said she hopes their story raises awareness of the need for organ donation.
- A teenager in Michigan saved his younger sister from a kidnap attempt by shooting the perp with his slingshot three times in the head and chest with marbles and rocks.
- A FedEx driver working a night shift in California happened upon a burning car and dragged the injured driver out just before it became engulfed in flames.
- A woman who lost her ability to speak after a stroke almost 20 years ago is able to talk again, thanks to artificial intelligence. University of California researchers were able to translate her brain signals into words and movements using AI. They even used her own voice, recorded in her wedding video.
