New Relationship Trends: Engagement Trips
According to a new report, 65% of Americans say that engagement rings have “evolved from a traditional symbol of love . . . to a financial burden.” On average, people think an engagement ring should cost around $10,600 . . . which, for some, is actually less than the old adage of “three months of salary.”
The people in the survey bring in an average of $62,100 per year. And 25% of that . . . or three months . . . is about $15,500. That’s a big chunk of change . . . and 26% of Gen Z’ers would rather pass on a pricey ring and just use the cash to go on a trip together.
25% of those people say they’d just get matching tattoos instead . . . even tattooed “rings.” It’s also become trendy to get modern bands made of silicone, wood, or titanium . . . rather than going the gold and diamond route.
And it sounds like even the future mothers-in-law don’t care. About HALF of younger Americans say they feel more pressure from “social media” and “society” to have an expensive engagement ring . . . than from their own family or their partner.
