Team USA snagged eight more medals at the Olympics yesterday, but no golds.
We did hold onto the overall medal lead, with 20 after Day 3. But if you just go by the gold medal count, we ended the day in sixth place.
Japan was first with six golds. Then France, China, Australia, and South Korea with five. And the U.S. with three.
We added a silver and bronze in skateboarding, a silver and bronze in women’s swimming, two bronze medals in men’s swimming, a bronze in men’s fencing, and the men’s gymnastics team took bronze in the team event, which is a big deal. They hadn’t medaled in that one since 2008.
Meanwhile, the U.S. women’s basketball team crushed Japan by 26 points in their first game, and we’re definitely hoping for gold in that one. They’ve now won 56 games in a row dating back to the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
