The Golden Globes were a pretty tame affair last night. Even Nikki Glaser seemed to be on her best behavior, never straying beyond safe humor, like jokes about Leonardo DiCaprio dating younger women.
Although she did take a shot at CBS News, calling it, quote, “America’s newest place to see B.S. news.” The Globes aired on CBS.
As for winners, “Hamnet” was named Best Drama, while “One Battle After Another” won Best Musical or Comedy… you know, because of all the singing and laughter.
“Sinners” won Cinematic and Box Office Achievement… a.k.a. Best Movie People Actually Saw.
“One Battle” had a good night overall. It also took Supporting Actress for Teyana Taylor, and Best Director and Screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson.
“Kpop Demon Hunters” was named the best animated flick, and “Golden” won Best Original Song.
In the TV category, “The Pitt” won Best Drama, and “The Studio” won Best Musical or Comedy. Noah Wyle won Best Actor in a Drama for “The Pitt”, and Seth Rogen won the Musical or Comedy equivalent for “The Studio”.
Amy Poehler defeated her ex-husband when “Good Hang” won Best Podcast over Will Arnett’s “SmartLess”.
Ricky Gervais won Best Stand-Up Comedy on Television, but he wasn’t there to accept… so presenter Wanda Sykes thanked God and the trans community on his behalf. Both have been frequent targets of his jokes.
The Globes ended with a nod to Rob Reiner… as Glaser signed off wearing a Spinal Tap hat.
