Over 50 Dogs Rescued from Hoarding Case at Murray County Animal Shelter

More than 50 hound and mixed-breed dogs are now in the care of the Murray County Animal Shelter following a large hoarding case uncovered Wednesday. The shelter reports that the dogs, rescued from overcrowded conditions, are now safe but in urgent need of medical attention before they can begin their journey toward recovery and new homes.

According to WTVC News Channel 9 News, the shelter has emphasized the importance of immediate veterinary care for the animals. Each dog requires intake vaccines, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and heartworm testing to ensure they are healthy and ready for transfer to licensed rescue partners who can continue rehabilitation and facilitate adoption.

The shelter is also facing a significant financial challenge due to the volume of animals needing treatment. They are calling on the community for donations to help cover the mounting medical expenses. Any contribution, regardless of size, will directly support the dogs’ veterinary care.
