Safety Tips For Posting Your Kids On Social Media
Over the last few weeks we have seen our timelines flooded with back to school photos. And as cute as the kids may have been, you may need to take some precautions when posting your little ones on social media. Below, Huffington Post has listed out the top four things you should consider when posting your child online.
1. Don’t show your child’s face. According to experts, if you’re going to post pictures of your kids, put an emoji over their face or any other identifying info. Like if their school’s name or logo is on their uniform, blur that out too.
2. Don’t share info about your routine or home address. That means no photos in front of your house number or in front of your kid’s bus stop.
3. Don’t share details about their interests. Those “back-to-school” boards kids hold up in pictures for their first day in a new grade can reveal A LOT of personal information . . . like the name of their school, their age, and their hobbies.
4. Don’t make the post viewable to strangers. Do you know every single person following your social media accounts? Most of us don’t. So either go through your friends list and remove anyone you’re not 100% sure of . . . or, better yet, keep those back-to-school photos in a family group chat or email thread.
