After more than three decades of serving pizza, calzones, and barbecue, Signal Mountain’s The Pizza Place, is set to close its doors for good at the end of this month. The announcement has left some in a state of nostalgia and sadness as they prepare to say goodbye to a staple of the community.

Owned by Paul Roberts, The Pizza Place has been a cherished destination since its establishment in 1989, offering delicious meals and a welcoming atmosphere for generations of residents and visitors on Taft Highway. Roberts, who has dedicated nearly half of his life to the restaurant, made the difficult decision to close after grappling with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have severely impacted operations.

With a menu that has attracted loyal customers over the years, The Pizza Place has been more than just a restaurant; it has served as a gathering place for families and friends. Regulars have fond memories of celebrating milestones and sharing a slice of their favorite flavors at the establishment.

In light of the upcoming closure, a GoFundMe campaign has been created for those who wish to support Roberts in his transition to retirement. The campaign aims to help him navigate this next chapter after committing so much of his life to the restaurant.

The restaurant may close, but the memories and the love for good food and community will endure.
