Stamp Out Hunger: May 11th Marks Nationwide Food Drive Effort

In The Know with Gino…

As the calendar inches closer to May, communities across the nation are gearing up for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, set to take place on Saturday, May 11th. This event, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), stands as the largest one-day food drive in the United States, aiming to combat hunger in local communities.

The premise is simple: on May 11th, individuals can leave their non-perishable food donations by their mailboxes for collection by their trusted letter carriers. What sets this initiative apart is that all donations made in a particular service area stay within that area. So your donation will go  directly to assisting families, seniors, and children across 11 Tennessee and 9 Georgia counties.

Since its inception in 1993, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown exponentially, becoming a vital source of support for food pantries nationwide. Each year, letter carriers embark on their routes on the second Saturday in May, collecting donations from generous households.

By participating in this drive, individuals can join letter carriers and partner organizations in the ongoing battle against hunger in their communities.

Participation is voluntary, but organizers hope to see widespread involvement as communities unite to address this pressing issue. Those interested in learning more about how they can contribute or get involved can visit NALC.ORG for additional information.

As May approaches, anticipation builds for another successful Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, where every donation represents a step towards a hunger-free future for countless individuals and families nationwide.
