The Five Worst Halftime Shows of the Modern Era
We’re still days away from the Super Bowl, and some people have already decided that Bad Bunny will give us the worst Super Bowl Halftime Show ever. But what about the ACTUAL bad ones? TV Line put together a list of the five WORST. And keep in mind, they stuck with the modern era . . . you know, since they started using celebrities.
1. Maroon 5, Super Bowl 53. (2019): Adam Levine showing his nipples? Yum.
2. The Disney Halftime Shows of Super Bowls 25, 29, and 34. (1991, 1995, 2000): The first one featured New Kids on the Block. The second had Tony Bennett and Patti LaBelle hyping Disneyland’s new Indiana Jones ride. The third was headlined by Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, and Enrique Iglesias.
3. Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, Super Bowl 38. (2004): The gripe here is mostly about how Janet got blackballed for showing her bejeweled nipple, while Justin pretty much skated away from any controversy. All the boob stuff probably made you forget that the show also featured Diddy, Nelly, Kid Rock, and Jessica Simpson.
4. The Blues Brothers, Super Bowl 31. (1997): They really should have retired the act when John Belushi died.
5. The Black Eyed Peas, Super Bowl 45. (2011): From audio issues to uninspired performances . . . not even guest spots from Slash and Usher could save this one.
