The MTV Video Music Awards Add a Country Category for the First Time

MTV has announced that they’re adding a country music category at the 2025 MTV Music Awards. Does this mean country has officially crossed into the mainstream?
Keep in mind, the VMAs have been going on since 1984, so it’s about time!
Here are the nominees for Best Country Video:
Chris Stapleton…“Think I’m in Love with You”
Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood… “I’m Gonna Love You”
Jelly Roll… “Liar”
Lainey Wilson… “4x4xU”
Megan Moroney… “Am I Okay?”
Morgan Wallen… “Smile”
Morgan is also nominated in the Artist of the Year category, and “I’m the Problem” is nominated for Best Album.
