The Scripps National Spelling Bee finals air tomorrow on the ION network.  It’s the 100th anniversary this year.

Google celebrated by looking at the top trending “how to spell” searches over the past month.  None are that hard.  But they’re used a lot, so we google them a lot.

1.  Congratulations

2.  Appreciation

3.  Florida

4.  Amazing

5.  Camouflage

They also looked at the top SLANG terms we can’t spell, and a few are embarrassing… just three letters long.

They posted a map of the top “how to spell” slang search in all 50 states.  And in Minnesota, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Hawaii it’s “BRO”.

Here are some of the other slang term spellings we’ve been googling…

1.  “Bougie”  But some people spell it with a “j”.

2.  “Lowkey” the Google map lists it as all one word, L-O-W-K-E-Y

3.  “Got down”…two words, G-O-T D-O-W-N

4.  “Tryna” …T-R-Y-N-A.  Like, “I’m tryna figure out how to spell ‘tryna.'”

5.  “Naw” ….  Like, “Naw, I’m not a great speller.”  Maybe some of those people are tryna spell “gnaw” with a “g”?
