Unpaid Parking Tickets? A Boot From CARTA Could Be In Your Future

If you have unpaid parking tickets, your days could be numbered. The Chattanooga city council is considering a proposal that would allow CARTA to ‘boot’ your car if it has at least 3 unpaid parking tickets for at least two months. There are currently more than 61,000 unpaid tickets, totaling about $1.4 million in lost fines.

The booting would happen anywhere where CARTA has enforcement authority. This will include public streets, parking lots, and parking garages.

Private companies who want to be licensed in the city would have to opt-in and follow the same rules. The proposal has not been voted on.
