Does your dog watch TV?

Canine behaviorist Carolyn Menteith says dogs may not understand the plot, but they do see movement and hear the sound.

Dogs can only see two primary colors…blue and yellow, so their viewing experience is different than ours.

However, they can recognize other dogs on-screen which is why they might react.

There is research to show that dogs recognize photographs of dogs so it is reasonable to assume they can do that when they look at the TV too,” Menteith says.
