Why Is Country Music So Popular Right Now?

The Celebrity Beat…

Comedians have a way of breaking down culture wars and providing insights about our society that most cannot.  Andrew Schulz was speaking on his “Flagrant Podcast” and he had a brilliant take on why Country music is so popular right now.

At first, he compared wanting to wear a cowboy hat and cowboy boots as the modern-day equivalent of “sagging your jeans“.  He said, “Acting as if you’re this country hillbilly is a REBELLION against popular culture, which is dominated by Hip-Hop.”

Andrew went on to say, “Hip-Hop is going through what Rock music went through.  Rock music came out and it was the rebellious, rejection of society.  And then Hip-Hop came in and did the same thing. Now I think Hip-Hop has become the pre-dominant artform for America, and what happens with that, is it’s CORNY.”

He closed out with his conclusion that, quote, “Now country is poppin’ because it is rebellious.”
