The Celebrity Beat…

It’s starting to feel like Kendrick Lamar is scientifically incapable of losing.  This week, he became the first rapper to have three Top 10 albums at the same time.

On the heels of his Super Bowl Halftime Show, Kendrick’s latest album “GNX” returned to #1 on the Billboard 200, after previously dropping to #4.

Meanwhile, 2017’s “DAMN” climbed from #29 to #9  and 2012’s “good kid, m.A.A.d city” jumped from #27 to #10.

Before Lamar, the last act to have three Top 10 albums at once was… say it with me, people:  Taylor Swift.  She actually had FIVE Top 10s in 2023.

Prior to that, Prince did it TWICE in the month after his death back in 2016.  One week he had three Top 10s, and the next week he had five.

Kendrick is the first LIVING male artist to do it since Herb Alpert in 1966.

And that’s not all Kendrick did this week.  He also became the first rapper with 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify.  Only 8 other artists have reached that number before him.

Oh, and speaking of a Super Bowl bump, Kendrick’s special guest in New OrleansSZA, saw her album “SOS” jump to #2 on the Billboard 200.

This is the first time two performers from the Super Bowl Halftime Show have been #1 and #2 the week after the game.
