CHATTANOOGA, TN – In a heartwarming display of community support and a reflection of the critical services they provide, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga (RMHC) has announced that every single room in their facility is currently occupied. The organization, which offers accommodation, meals, and support to families with critically ill or injured children, now faces an urgent need for additional resources as it maintains a waitlist to accommodate more families in their time of need.
RMHC of Greater Chattanooga operates a 28-bedroom facility, providing a safe haven for families who require a place to stay while their child receives medical care at nearby hospitals. This essential service allows parents and caregivers to focus on their child’s recovery without the added burden of finding accommodation and meals during what is often a highly challenging and emotionally draining period.
Dr. Michael Brown, President and CEO of RMHC of Greater Chattanooga, emphasized the significance of their mission, stating, “It is evident that we are here for a reason and that reason is keeping families near their sick child. Having a full house means we need your help now more than ever. Whether it’s donating wish list items, volunteering to cook a meal, or showing support through monetary donations, we need you to help us continue to provide for our RMHC families.”
The organization has put out a call for community support, highlighting several ways individuals and groups can make a meaningful impact:
- Volunteer to Cook or Cater a Meal: RMHC ensures that every family receives a hot meal every night, and volunteers are essential in making this happen.
- Donate Wish List Items: A monthly “Fill the 5” wish list is posted on rmhchattanooga.com to share the community’s needs for that month, allowing donors to contribute specific items to support the families.
- Support Through Monetary Donations: Contributions can be made to RMHC’s Share-A-Night campaign at shareanightchatt.com. A $150 donation covers one night’s stay for a family at RMHC of Greater Chattanooga.
RMHC of Greater Chattanooga, established in 1990, operates as an independent 501(c)3 registered non-profit and relies solely on donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations to continue its vital work. The organization’s cornerstone programs include the 28-bedroom Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room located inside Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Additionally, RMHC offers scholarships to area high school seniors.
With every room currently occupied, the need for volunteers, donations, and support is more apparent than ever. RMHC of Greater Chattanooga remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for every family that walks through its doors, directly across the street from Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.
