People say you shouldn’t drink the coffee on airplanes, or anything with ice. So you’re stuck getting something bottled or canned or something overpriced from the airport.
But there IS another option: Fresh coconut water… from your carry-on.
A nutrition influencer on social media says he always packs coconuts to crack open and drink on the plane. A coconut can hold between seven and 34 ounces of coconut water inside depending on the type and maturity.
He says it’s packed with magnesium, manganese, and “all kinds of good stuff.”
And yes, the TSA DOES allow whole, unopened coconuts despite it being over the three-ounce liquid limit. They may require extra screening though, if you are not flying WITHIN the continental U.S.
So how do you crack them open on the plane?
Coconuts have three “eyes,” and one of them is soft. Just bring a metal straw, which is also allowed, and jab it into the soft eye. Then, ENJOY. Both the taste, and the GLARES from whoever you are sitting next to.
