The historic Chattanooga Theatre Centre is set to embark on an ambitious new chapter this fall with the construction of a stylish two-story restaurant and event space, aimed at enhancing the cultural and social landscape of downtown Chattanooga.

The century-old theater, renowned for its vibrant performances and community engagement, is expanding its footprint with a development project that promises to bring fresh culinary and entertainment opportunities to Walnut Street. The new eatery will feature both indoor and outdoor seating, providing a welcoming environment for theatergoers, locals, and visitors alike. Upstairs, a versatile event space will be available for weddings, reunions, workshops, corporate gatherings, and more, complete with a fully equipped kitchen capable of accommodating large groups and catering services.

Projected to break ground this fall, the project is expected to be completed within two years, with plans to unveil the new venue by 2027. When visitors stroll across the recently renovated Walnut Street Bridge, they will be able to enjoy views of the glowing restaurant windows and inviting patio, adding a vibrant new landmark to Chattanooga’s downtown scene.

In addition to the physical expansion, the Chattanooga Theatre Centre will have a talented chef to lease the restaurant space. They will craft a menu emphasizing locally sourced ingredients, offering affordable, high-quality cuisine that appeals to a diverse audience—including theater patrons, Coolidge Park visitors, and regional and international tourists alike.

The theatre’s leadership envisions the restaurant not just as a dining destination but as a hub for community engagement. The chef will be encouraged to develop a cuisine that fosters connections within Chattanooga’s food scene and complements the cultural offerings of the Theatre Centre. The space will also host local performances, workshops, and community events, helping generate revenue to support the theater’s ongoing programming and outreach.

As plans move forward, the Chattanooga Theatre Centre looks forward to welcoming a new era of artistic and culinary excellence that will serve as a cornerstone for downtown Chattanooga’s ongoing renaissance.
