Blood Assurance Urgently Calls for O-Negative Blood Donors as Supplies Reach Critical Low
In The Know with Gino…
Blood Assurance has issued an urgent plea for O-negative blood donors, warning that local supplies have plummeted to less than a day’s worth — the lowest levels seen in months.
As the primary blood supplier for Chattanooga hospitals, the organization emphasizes that every donation directly helps local patients in need of life-saving treatment.
O-negative blood, often called the universal donor type, is crucial in emergency and trauma situations when there is no time to determine a patient’s blood type. Despite its importance, only about 7 percent of the U.S. population has this blood type, making donations vital for maintaining sufficient stock levels.
To encourage donations, Blood Assurance is offering special incentives:
– A $25 e-gift card for all O-negative donors
– A $50 e-gift card for donors who give between now and October 10th
– Additionally, all donors will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 e-gift card this month
Donors are urged to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to help prevent critical shortages and save lives. To donate, individuals can visit the bloodassurance.org for more information and to make their appointment
Every donation counts — especially now.
